The Critical Role of Air Handling Units for Data Centres

Air Handling Units (AHUs) play a crucial role in maintaining the environmental conditions within data centers. AHUs often incorporate variable speed fans and other energy-efficient features to adjust cooling capacity based on the actual demand. This helps optimize energy consumption without compromising equipment performance.

  • Redundancy and Reliability: Many data centers implement redundancy in their AHU systems to ensure uninterrupted cooling. Redundant AHUs and cooling paths help maintain the environmental conditions even if one unit fails, minimizing the risk of overheating and downtime.

  • Monitoring and Control: AHUs are usually integrated into the overall building management system (BMS) or data center infrastructure management (DCIM) system. This allows for remote monitoring, control, and real-time adjustments of temperature, humidity, and other parameters to ensure the optimal operating conditions.
